The term DeFi can refer to process of distributing and dispersing power away from a central authority. Bitcoin was designed as a decentralized network and not to have any single point of failure, making it more resilient, efficient and democratic, putting the power back into the hands of the people.

Ethereum and other blockchains that came after Bitcoin have taken the term to a new level creating a new financial system, sometimes called Finance 3.0 where software is built on the blockchain that can be pieced together like Money Legos. The notion is that crypto entrepreneurs can recreate traditional financial instruments in a decentralized architecture, outside of companies' and governments' control. Truly Revolutionary.

The term "Defi", also means to show open resistance or bold disobedience, which we thought was quite fitting.
